QHY168C has the second largest sensor among QHYCCD Medium COLDMOS series, offering 16 megapixels on a APS-C size colour CMOS sensor. The CMOS sensor Sony IMX071 has 4.8µm pixel size and 14 bit ADC.

High Performance

QHY168C has a full frame size 16mega pixels, 14bit CMOS sensor IMX071. This sensor is also used in the D5100 camera. It has 3.2e low readout noise at lowest gain and 2.3e- low readout noise at unity gain (system gain = 1e/adu).

True RAW Image Output

QHY168C has the same CMOS sensor like D5100. Although DSLR has the RAW image output. But typically, it is still not the trully raw image. You will find the de-noise sign on the raw images from the hot pixel styles. While the QHY168C offers the TRUE RAW IMAGE OUTPUT and it gives original signal and keep the max flexibility of astronomy image process.

Unique Thermal Noise Reduction Technology

Besides the 2-stage TEC which cools the QHY168C 35ºC below ambient, QHYCCD has an unique thermal noise control technology to get the CMOS sensor very low thermal noise and make whole 165/168/247/367 product line has much better thermal noise performance than competitors.

128MB DDR Buffer

As a member of QHYCCD's high pixel counts CMOS camera, QHY163M/C has a built-in 128MB DDRII image buffer. The generous buffer helps facilitating large image transfer, preventing frame lost after long exposure while transferring and allows the camera to run smoothly when used with low performance computer or USB2.0 port.

Full Anti-Dew Solution

With more than ten years of experience in cooled CCD camera design, QHYCCD applies the fully anti-dew technology to the QHY163 including the fully air proof CMOS chamber with silicon gel tube socket and CMOS window heater. With these technologies you do not need to worry about the dew formed on both CMOS sensor and the optics window, even in a high humidity environment.
